Brighton’s game at home to Arsenal in the Women’s Super League (WSL) on Sunday has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

The game was scheduled to kick off at 14:30 GMT at Brighton’s Broadfield Stadium, with the club saying in a statement that a rearranged date is yet to be confirmed.

“After an inspection by the referee following the removal of pitch protection covers, today’s WSL game against Arsenal at the Broadfield Stadium has been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch,” the statement added, external.

Arsenal are fourth in the WSL table, 13 points behind leaders Manchester City having played two games less. Their other main rivals for a Champions League place, Chelsea and Manchester United both played on Sunday.

Brighton, meanwhile, are seventh in the table, on 17 points from their 15 games.
