Los Angeles Rams’ rising star Puka Nacua has already set his retirement timeline, drawing inspiration from NFL legend Aaron Donald.

At just 23 years old, Nacua has his sights set on an early exit from professional football. Speaking on the “Join the Lobby” podcast, the standout wide receiver confidently shared his future plans.

“I know I want to retire at the age of 30,” Nacua stated in the episode, which aired Saturday.

That gives Rams fans at least six or seven more seasons to enjoy watching the dynamic playmaker in action, depending on when in his 30th year he officially calls it a career.

    Inspired by Aaron Donald’s Legacy

Nacua pointed to former Rams defensive tackle and three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald as his biggest influence. Donald, who retired last offseason at 32 after a decade of dominance and Pro Bowl appearances, set the standard for walking away at the top of his game.

“I think of Aaron Donald,” Nacua said. “To go out at the top, I think it would be super cool.”

    Prioritizing Family Over Football

For Nacua, football is just one chapter of his life. A major factor in his early retirement plans is his desire to build and spend quality time with a large family.

“I want to have a big family,” said Nacua, who comes from a household of five siblings. “I need five boys. I want to be as active as I can with them.”

    NFL Stardom and Injury Concerns

A fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Nacua quickly established himself as one of the league’s most exciting young receivers. He set rookie records with 105 receptions and 1,486 receiving yards, earning a Pro Bowl selection in his first year. However, injuries have already played a role in his career, including a right knee sprain that sidelined him for five games last season.

Nacua acknowledged the physical toll of the sport, citing concerns about long-term health. “The injuries are something you can’t control. You never know. By the time my kids are 18, I don’t want to be barely walking because of the injuries,” he explained.

    A Future Beyond the NFL

Beyond football, Nacua has his eyes set on entrepreneurial ventures, potentially in real estate and restaurant ownership. His post-NFL ambitions reflect his long-term vision and commitment to building a legacy beyond the game.

While Rams fans may not be ready to think about Nacua’s retirement, his early planning highlights his drive, discipline, and understanding of life beyond the gridiron. For now, the electrifying receiver remains a key part of the Rams’ offense, with several years left to leave his mark on the NFL.
